What is MyCAA?

Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) program, which has helped thousands of military spouses in pursuit to their careers, have been expanded recently by the Department of Defense. The said program, which is also known as Spouse Tuition Assistance, can now provide up to $4,000 of financial aid to eligible military spouse applicants.

The launching of MyCAA program by the Department of Defense in October 2010 has become popular with a few improvements in eligibility and dollar amounts. We have provided a list of these changes for you:

  • Spouses of active duty members with E1-E5, W1-W2, and O1-O2 ranks, activated Guard and Reserve members’ wives included, are qualified to the program. Wives of Guard and Reserve members must finish their courses while their sponsor is on Tile 10 orders.
  • A maximum financial benefit of $4,000 with $2,000 fiscal year cap is also offered. Spouses seeking for licensure with maximum assistance of $4,000 must secure a waiver.
  • Military spouses must accomplish their program within three years from start date of first course.

MyCAA is limited to associate degrees, certification and licensure.
